The automatic identification system (AIS) is an automatic tracking system that uses transponders on ships, and boats, which allows you to see where they are anywhere in the world.
To use this AIS map all you must do is scroll in and out or drag the map up and down the River. You will see names of vessels and where there at on the River at that time. If you hover over one it will tell you speed and direction. You can also click on any vessel and it will open a picture of the boat tug or commercial vessel. You also have on the left-hand side the ability to customize your map with different layers and visibility’s that are shown. Also at the bottom left of the map you’ll see a button to refresh the screen and update the locations of the vessels as time goes on this map will update each time you log off or log back on. Note: on phones it is better to rotate you phone and view in horizontal.
